I am a student from Temasek Polytechnic studying Apparel Design & Merchandising, specialising in fashion design. I am a visual learner and a detail oriented person. I enjoy drafting and using the sewing machine. I enjoy working in a team but I am also able to work independently on my own. I am strict on myself and do not like to leave things to the last minute. I take the initiative to seek help whenever I am unable to progress with my work.
During my studies, I have completed the relevant modules such as Drafting, Draping, Garment Construction, Sustainable Techniques and Creative Techniques in Textiles.

BLOUSE (女式衬衫)
For this assignment in Drafting, we were tasked to construct a basic blouse with a style line and variation on the sleeve (either a dolman, lantern, raglan or kimono).
So, I chose to design my blouse with two lanterns on top of each other for each sleeve and I finished my blouse with a concealed zip on the right of the bodice and a ribbon closure on the neckline of the back bodice to enable the blouse to be worn.

For this assignment in Drafting, we were tasked to construct a bomber jacket that consists of at least 1 style line, 1 pocket design, a relaxed or oversized silhouette, open end zip, overlock finishing and explore fabric selections or fabric mix. And we were also tasked to sketch 10 designs of the bomber jacket (front and back).
So, I chose to design my bomber jacket with an elastic pocket with pleats on half of the sleeves as its style line, and I also played with fabric mix.

TAILORED BLAZER (定制夹克)
For this assignment in Drafting, we were tasked to construct a tailored blazer that consists of a Shawl/Notched/Peak Lapel, at least one welt pocket, a button down front (either single or double breasted), semi fitted silhouette using darts, fully lined and fused interfacing, and two tailored sleeves with shoulder pads.
So, I chose to design my tailored blazer to have a rounded peak lapel with a welt pocket at the right on the bust line of the blazer.

I did the front of my exploration by sewing random gathers onto my knit fabric using elastic in my bobbin, and then draping the fabric onto the mannequin until I get my desired look.
After I get the desired look, I then pin the gathers in place and start marking out the neckline and armholes and then cutting the allowances of the piece.

i did the back of my exploration by also sewing gathers onto my fabric first and then pinning how I want the gathers to look like. And afterwards I just mark the neckline and armholes and cut the allowances.
After that I sew the front and back bodice together at the shoulder line and side seams, and used the cover stitch for the hem.

After getting the desired look of the cowl neckline, I draped the rest of the bodice.
I sewed gathers below each bust for the back and the front and pinned the side seams together.

I did the front by folding a triangle shape down and pinning the edges on the shoulder line to create the cowl neckline.

SCULPTURAL DRAPING

For this assignment in Draping, we were tasked to develop 10 designs each for the top and skirt and produce a toile of the chosen top and skirt design.

10 SKETCHES FOR TOP AND SKIRT (十张上衣和裙子的草图)
I made the 3D sculptural blocks out of paper and sticked it onto the basic bodice and used styling tape to mark out the seam lines and made them into paper patterns.
After that, I cut out the paper patterns with seam allowances and sewed the respective seams to each other.
After sewing, I ironed the parts that was supposed to be 3D to make it stand out more.
One thing that I could have done better would be to sew the edge of the 3D star more carefully so that the star would be more prominent.

I made the 3D sculpture at the side of the hip by using tracing paper and slowly pinning it down to make my desired shape. And after that I used styling tape to mark the seam lines and made them into paper patterns. After cutting out the paper patterns with the seam allowances, I sewed the pieces together.

SIGNATURE GOWN DRAPING (标志性礼服)
For this assignment in Draping, we were tasked to develop 10 designs for our signature gown that consists of at least 2 embellishments (embroidery, beading, sequins, appliqué or fabric manipulation) and a drape (ruching, cowl, pleats/gathers, origami folds or organic) on the bustier.

I designed my signature gown to have flower apliques and 3D beaded butterflies on it as I wanted my signature gown to have a garden theme to it. The colour theme of my signature gown is Black, White and Grey as I wanted it to look dark and monotonous. The colour of my flower aplique is Grey and White and the beaded butterflies are made out of clear crystal like beads. I chose to use silk and organza as I felt that these two materials paired well together to give off the airy but luxurious feel.

For the first part of this assignment in Fashion Presentation Techniques, we were tasked to create a Mood/Inspiration Board and 2 Design Collages on our selected subculture.

The subculture that I chose is grunge, I chose grunge as I liked the aesthetic of it and the mood that it gives off.

I decided to draw my models to look a little like Bratz dolls as I felt that it would suit my grunge subculture as well as my outfits.

I chose Our Barehands because I felt that it was the most neutral brand as compared to the other brands provided. And I liked that the brand was very minimalistic and aesthetic looking.
I chose to make a necklace because Our Barehands does not have that big of a jewellry line and they did not sell any necklaces, and most of their accessories are not made out of fabrics.

We chose Fanciful Doll X Skullpanda to collaborate as we felt that it would create an interesting collaboration as both brands have opposite aesthetics, Fanciful Doll is very pink and girly brand while Skullpanda is very dark and hip.

For this assignment in Sustainable Techniques, we were tasked to research on 5 different zero waste techniques to apply to our garments. After researching about the techniques, we had to create 6 unique full outfits, with at least 3 dresses using the mini torso. The 5 zero waste techniques that I chose are Subtraction Cutting, Pleating, Gathering, Unique Cuts and Braiding.
For my first outfit, I used the Subtraction Cutting technique to make a dress.

For my second outfit, I used the Pleats and Gathers technique to make a top and bottom outfit. I used the Pleats technique to create pleats diagonally and fold accordingly to the shape of the bodice. I used the gathers technique to gather the fabric to the shape of the bodice.

For my third outfit, I used the Pleats, Gathers and the Braiding techniques to make a top and bottom outfit. I used the Braiding technique to connect the front and back bodice together and close up the side seams. And I used the Gathers technique to connect all of the excess pieces of fabrics together at the bottom of the skirt to create a tiered skirt look.

I used the Pleating technique for the top of the skirt to follow the shape of the torso. I used the Gathering technique to create a ruched look for the top.

For my fifth outfit, I used the Pleating and Gathering technique to make a dress. I used the gathering technique to gather large amounts of fabric to contour and follow accordingly to the shape of the torso. I used the pleating technique to fold the fabric to follow according to the shape of the torso.

For my sixth outfit, I used the Pleating and Gathering Technique to make a dress. I used the gathering technique to gather large amounts of fabric to contour and follow accordingly to the shape of the torso. I used the pleating technique to fold the fabric to the shape of the bust, and I also folded the back of the dress to look like the paper aeroplane wings
